For the past year Carol and I have been discussing adopting a child. We officially started the process when we met with Susan Wasserman a few weeks ago in February.  Susan is a private social worker based in Krugersdorp. Since the first orientation meeting, I have been working on acquiring all the necessary documentation. This includes:

• Certified copies of ID docs
• Marriage certificate (if applicable)
• Proof of residence
• Income/Expenses
• Police clearance certificate
• Form 30 clearance certificate
• Character references
• Medical certificate
• Psych assessment report

One of the requirements is to meet with the social every 2 weeks or so for about 4 sessions. We have had our first session this week.

I personally don’t have any preference to race or gender of the child.
